Sewing machine comparison

In fashion manufacture the machines are still predominantly used in their basic forms but, for more specialised garments and those made in higher volume, variations in machine shape are available which enable easier movement of the materials around the machine. These variations primarily affect the shape of the bed of the machine, i.e. the part on which the materials rest.
The general machine types used for majority of the sewing applications in the garment industry include the lock stitch machine, chain stitch machine and overlock machines. Flat lock machine, button sewers and button holing machine are amongst the other prominently used machine types, however their application is limited to the type of garments produced in the unit.
